90th anniversary of the memory of the victims of the Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933.
On the 90th anniversary of this terrible tragedy, we remind the world that the genocide of the bloodthirsty Moscow occupiers against the Ukrainian people is continued today by Putin's Russia, which is afraid of free people, and therefore is trying to kill and destroy our identity, our statehood. But Ukraine is and will be, because Truth is behind us, the world of Good is with us, and God is with us!
Teachers, parents, and high school students of the Ukrainian Studies School “Nova Khvilka” took part in a mourning procession in memory of the victims of the Holodomor–genocide of 1932-1933.
A column with Ukrainian flags and posters, reminiscent of the terrible tragedy committed by the Stalinist communist regime 90 years ago, marched from the Ukrainian Catholic Church of St. George, located in lower Manhattan on E 7th Street along 3rd Avenue to Saint Patrick Church, the largest Roman Catholic cathedral in New York, located on 50th Street in Upper Manhattan.
The ceremony of remembrance of the innocently executed children, men, and women of Ukraine who lived and grew bread on the fertile land began with the piercing sounds of a requiem performed by the Dumka choir under the direction of Vasyl Grechinsky. Children - students of our and other Ukrainian schools in New York - carried spikelets of wheat as a symbol of the life that was stolen from millions of Ukrainians for wanting to be masters of their God-given land.
The prayer service was served by priests of two Ukrainian Churches – Orthodox and Catholic.
The audience was addressed by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova, the Representative of Ukraine to the UN Serhiy Kyslytsia, and the Leader of the Democratic Majority in the US Congress Chuck Schumer.
