A very important task for the NGO "New Ukrainian Wave", as the founder-trustee of the "New Wave" school, is to improve the quality of Ukrainian studies education in the diaspora. This is often emphasized by the head of the organization and the school director, Myroslava Rozdolska, at meetings of the School Council of the Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America.

The geography of origin of our students today is all regions of Ukraine, South and North, West and East, including Crimea. The level of knowledge and understanding of the Ukrainian language among our students is very different. There are children born here and children who have recently come from Ukraine. There are children from mixed families where they speak little Ukrainian and from families who communicate exclusively in their native Ukrainian at home. This is a challenge for the school, for teachers, also considering the fact that modern textbooks for younger schoolchildren in the diaspora simply do not exist. There is a wonderful development for Preschool and 2nd grade by Dr. Christina Pikhmanets, deputy principal of the “Samopomich” school in Manhattan, NY, which we have been ordering for the fourth year in a row and our students are happy to use them. But if the preparation of such textbooks were not done alone, but at the level of the School Council, perhaps we would not have such a gap as now between the 2nd and 5th grades, when each school is in search of its own educational materials. Our predecessors 50 years ago made an incredible contribution to the development of schooling in the diaspora and left us a great legacy. But time does not stand still. Educational materials need to be updated and modernized. And this is one of the very important tasks that must be solved in order to ensure a systematic approach to the educational process, the goal of which is the quality of Ukrainian studies education in the diaspora, - emphasized Myroslava Rozdolska, head of the NGO "New Ukrainian Wave" and director of the school "New Wave".
