Last Saturday, March 26, 4th-5th grade students at our Ukrainian Studies School "New Wave" in Brooklyn hosted their peers - girls from the Girl Scouts organization from Queens, who arrived with their leader Magdalena Rosaro and several parents. The guests brought many school supplies for children in Ukraine, as well as a donation of $300 for medical and humanitarian aid.

Our students told their peers about their experiences due to the war in Ukraine. Scouts spoke about supporting Ukrainians. Children communicated, exchanged contacts. Adults who accompanied their daughters on this trip wiped away tears, listening to how inspired our children sang the Ukrainian anthem, and when fourth-grade student Oleksandr Merenych spoke about how sad and painful he was because of the war in Ukraine. The Strelka song “Oh, in the meadow, the red viburnum,” performed by our middle and high school students under the guidance of music teacher Olga Obertos, sounded like a symbol of our unity and faith in victory. ,

A correspondent from the Daily News was present at the meeting. The same day, the newspaper published photos and a story about the support of young Americans for their Ukrainian peers here and in Ukraine during this unspeakably difficult time for our Motherland.
