Letter from West Virginia, from our friend Jennifer, who sent $600 for medical supplies and humanitarian help for Ukraine.

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to reunite with my beautiful friend, Iryna Rozdolska, at a rally in Washington DC to support Ukraine.  As I watched so many people coming together to share stories and talk about the situation in Ukraine, I knew that I wanted to support these peaceful and kind people. I was sewing craft bags and giving the proceeds to the Ukrainian relief fund. Although a few people purchased them, I wanted to make a bigger impact. I headed to Hobby Lobby remembering seeing so many people from the rally wearing sunflowers.

Sunflowers are an annual flower which means that they will not come back the following growing season; however, the seeds will grow and can be spread to produce many flowers.  In addition, the bright sunny colors of the sunflower remind of the warmth of the sun and indeed the warmth of the Ukrainian people. So it is fitting that I started making sunflower pins. They represent peace and hope for a bright day. Wearing the pin is an easy way for people to show that they support the people of Ukraine as well as to donate money directly to the relief and assistance of these people.
