New Wave School Summer Program in Brooklyn
At the end of the last school year, several parents of our Ukrainian studies school “New Wave” in Brooklyn came up with the idea of opening a camp for the summer holidays. We were completely late in registering for the camp, but the summer program did start on July 5. There weren’t that many of our regular students in the program, but children who weren’t involved in Ukrainian studies schools joined from the very beginning. We hope that interesting classes and new friends will encourage them to become students of our school from September. Currently, the summer program includes a theater and choreography studio, music classes and drawing, chess and soccer, outdoor competitions and travel. More and more children have started coming to us, especially those who have just arrived in America on a password. For them, it’s like a newly discovered island of Ukraine in America. Children adapt more easily, psychologists work with them. And for their parents, it’s an opportunity to leave their children in a safe Ukrainian-speaking environment and start working. Among teachers and educators, half are also refugees. The number of newly arrived children is growing every day. Today, 50 percent are refugee children. We accept everyone who wants to, but we also need sponsors to ensure proper nutrition, education, and accommodation for children. Therefore, we will be grateful to everyone who is ready to support our summer program financially. Donations can be made to the account: Ukrainian New Wave at the link https://newwave4.org/donation
Our summer program of the Ukrainian Studies School "New Wave" will last until August 27. On this day, we invite everyone to join us and the Ukrainian community of Brooklyn to celebrate Ukrainian Independence Day here, on the grounds of the Guardian Angel Church.
